Welcome to the Project
The Project is a place for motherless daughters to share their memories and grief. It is a living memorial to our mothers. It’s a love letter to our resilience and strength as women, leaders, partners, mothers, daughters, sisters and friends. It is a love letter to our mothers - regardless of how they lived or how they died, they were ours and we loved them in our way. This is a place to tell our stories in our own words.
My name is Janet and my mom Cass died when she was 49 from breast cancer. It was 1995 and I was 18, right at the start of my adult life. My entire world shattered the day she died; I felt like I had been evicted from my own life that day. I have spent the last 25 years mourning her and reeling from the secondary losses that followed.
Since launching the Project, 114 amazing women from around the world have shared their stories! By sharing first-person stories, we can raise grief awareness, find support and share our strength, resilience and hope. But most importantly, we’re building community so that we feel less alone in our grief.
