Let’s sit with the messy feelings

Grief isn’t just one emotion. It’s a complicated and confusing mix of emotions. After all these years, I’m trying to give myself permission to sit with my messy feelings and not push them down or try to avoid them in other ways. It’s tough, this road we’re all on. Give yourself grace. I’m trying to do the same. Let’s honour all of the love, joy, sadness, confusion, anger, resentment, laughter, memories, longing and remembering we have in our hearts. The hard and beautiful thing about grief is that it’s complicated. Society tries to tell us to dumb it down, like we need some Coles Notes version of how to do it. But we don’t need that. We only need to listen to what’s in our hearts. And if you need resources, check out my last post here on some things I’ve been using lately that I find really helpful. If you’re in crisis, please reach out. There are many services available around the world and you can find some of them here. You’re not alone, we’re in this together.

Sending you a big hug,

Janet
