Dana’s Story

In this season opener of the 2nd season of I Swear on My Mother’s Grave podcast, Dana (host and creator of the show) and her guest Lauren talk about preparing for their weddings…without their mothers physically present.

They discuss how to manage a big life moment without your mom by your side, how romantic relationships are modeled to us by our folks, and how complicated it can get…when your own mother asks you to be her maid of honor.

In honor of Dana’s one year wedding anniversary this weekend, I thought I would throw back to this episode from 2022, right after Dana got married on the patio of her 96 year old Nana’s nursing home. Romantic right?

I Swear on My Mother’s Grave podcast is part memoir/part conversation about the loss of our complex mothers, and not just in death. But it isn’t just about our moms, it’s about us. The living. It’s what it’s like to be someone’s child. It’s about legacy. And sometimes it’s about love on nursing home patios!
