On Saturday, October 3rd, members of Moms' Angels gathered at Fleetwood Park to plant trees in dedication to their deceased moms. Moms' Angels is a local initiative intended to support youth whose mothers have passed away. The initiative was co-founded by Cristina Moonah who lost her mom at age 6. Cristina organized the inaugural event and welcomed youth and families to plant dedication trees and celebrate the life of their moms.

The event was made possible through One Million Trees Mississauga and was postponed from Mother's Day weekend due to COVID-19. Of the event, Cristina said, "I think it's important for youth and families to know that they are not alone. The loss of a mother is a unique reality and challenge for our youth. Planting trees at Fleetwood Park provides the opportunity to celebrate their moms, connect with other youth and begin or continue the grief process, until reaching a point of peace.  I hope our members will visit the park often to observe our trees and remember the connections they made today."

Moms' Angels will host a second tree-planting event in the spring and enjoy the installation of a memorial bench to accompany their trees. For more information on Moms' Angels and event updates, follow Moms' Angels on Facebook or Instagram: @moms.angels.fb @moms.angels.ig
